This eight-meter design by Bruce Kirby was built to take advantage of wing keel technology introduced by Australia II in 1983.

​In 1984 Octavia won the Eight meter world cup in Toronto.

Octavia has a laminated mahogany hull, without frames. The keelson, clamps and deck beams are sitka spruce and decks are laminated red cedar.
